Add a Little Geeky Glitz or Shine to any Outfit

One of my favorite way to make my outfits a little more geek chic is including a great piece of jewelry. It could be unstated or the focus of the outfit. While many of these may not be available in time for the holidays, you might be able to snag a piece or two in time to add to your New Years outfit. Or, you could just wear them everyday too!

Hot Topic’s merchandise changes fairly frequently, but they have some fun pieces right now at very reasonable prices.

Geek Chic Finds of the Week

3

When posting our Stunning Style outfits, often I find that some of the items we’ve posted are often no longer available. That being the case, I wanted to post a collection of my recent finds both in store and online so that you have the opportunity to grab things while they’re still around. Some of these will definitely make an appearance in future Stunning Styles! (A special thanks to my husband for being the hand model in many of these photos)

DIY Friday: Wonder Woman iPhone Wristlet

3

Whenever I’m in a store, I’m always keeping an eye out for existing items that can be stylishly geeked up. Target is currently stocking these wonderfully colorful metallic PVC purses, bags and iPhone wristlet cases by Xhilaration.

I was immediately drawn to these, especially the iPhone cases, and could see an abundant amount of DIY possibilities with them. My local Target only had the blue iPhone case in stock, which wasn’t a problem for me, as I knew something fun and simple I could do to geek it up!

Stunning Style: Look #9

2

This week I’m on my way to Georgia for Dragon*con, which I like to refer to as a four day party con in costume. It’s pretty great! For a convention like Dragon*con where it’s possible (and probable) that you’ll spend most of your time hanging out and socializing, chic geek outfits are just the thing to change it up a little when you still want to be dressed up, without being in a full costume.

I’ve worn this Wonder Woman-themed ensemble out and about to a few evening gatherings and it’s been a pretty big hit. While it’s a bit on the bold side with the iconic Wonder Woman boots and eye-catching starred spandex leggings, the simple black top helps to keep it from being an over-the-top look.

I don’t know the first thing about eyeshadow, let alone what shape and style of brush to use where, but thanks to fashion-forward, stylish geeks like Dawn Banks, even the least makeup savvy of us have the ability to look geeky beautiful.
