Nerdvember Contest

10

A few years ago I decided to do a month long challenge. I was growing my hair out at the time, and was getting bored with just wearing it down or putting it in a pony tail, so I decided to try a new hairstyle for the entire month of November. Well, this year I’m itching for a new challenge, and decided to include you guys in on the fun! For the month of November, Scruffy and I are going to try and incorporate something geeky into our daily looks. It’ll be either a fun accessory, or maybe an entire outfit. Pretty much, a reason to dress up a bit more than we typically do on a daily basis.

So where do you come in? Well, we want you to give it a try too! If you participate even a day, you’ll be entered in a raffle to win a prize. If you go for the gold and participate for at least 25 days, the prize is even better.nerdvember Continue reading

Superhero in Training: Geek Workout Gear

2

When I was in school, I was pretty much convinced that I didn’t have an athletic bone in my body. I preferred the comfort of art club, marching band, and my video games over team sports. However, all that changed when I discovered weightlifting earlier this year.

I’ve finally found something that I not only love and makes me stronger, but that also makes me feel like a superhero in training. However, when it come to geek clothes to workout in, I’m sorely lacking.

Inspired by this Instagram photo from Her Universe where she’s rocking a Wonder Woman shirt, I was curious to see what options are out there for active geeks.

One great aspect to Halloween is there always seems to be an influx of great geeky dresses released for the holiday. While some are definitely more costume than fashion, there are a few that can be easily accessorized to work for any occasion.

One of the trends we’ve been seeing in the last few years is makeup lines corresponding with movie releases. While last year’s Hunger Games movie featured a limited release nail polish set, this year’s movie has an entire makeup line inspired by Catching Fire. Covergirl will have a unique look for each of the districts, available now and in the upcoming days.
