Are you ready for the best month of the year? That’s right, it’s time for #NERDVEMBER! We had such an amazing turnout last year, that we just had to do it again this year.
What is #NERDVEMBER?
#NERDVEMBER is a month-long contest we run over on Instagram. Participants are challenged to post a photo of themselves in a geek-themed outfit every single day of November. Outfits can range from something obviously geeky like wearing a Batman shirt or Star Wars leggings, or more vague, like an outfit inspired by a character through the use of a specific color palette. How many days you manage to participate determines the prize tier you are eligible for. One (1) or more winners from each tier will be selected at random using a random number generator.
The Rules
- Wear a geek-themed outfit
- Full geek ensembles are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED, but at a minimum you must be wearing at least one (1) piece of geek clothing/jewelry/accessory to qualify. If you’re wearing an “inspired by” look, please include a photo of the inspiration in your pic post or at least an explanation of how your outfit is geek themed. Make sure you take a full outfit shot!
- Post your photo on Instagram
- Photos MUST be new (no tagging old photos!)
- Include the hashtags #nerdvember and #settostunning
- Follow @settostunning on Instagram

The Prize Tiers
Similar to last year, the more you participate the better the prizes!
THE SIDEKICK (Prize Tier 1): participates 1-10 days
THE VIGILANTE (Prize Tier 2): participates 11-20 days
THE HERO (Prize Tier 3): participates 21-29 days
THE SUPERHERO (Prize Tier 4): participates all 30 days

I will definitely be in the Sidekick category. I don’t enough geek-themed wear for more than 5 days. But that’s okay. I’m really excited to see everyone’s outfits! 🙂 Such good inspiration!

But unfortunately I didn’t get around to posting my first outfit for November 1st until a few minutes after midnight last night. May I ask what method you use to track the days that people participate? I just realized that posting after midnight might have left me out of the running for the top tier last year 🙂 I’m a night owl haha!
I can definitely try to remember to do it earlier for the rest of the month, I just already messed up >.<
We look at each participant and then try to go case by case to see which category they matched up with. Since you were slightly after midnight this time, we’ll count day one, but try to post before midnight from here on out!
I see! Yeah it occurred to me that it must actually be kinda hard to keep track of everyone
