Joann Fabric & Craft has been releasing some pretty nice licensed fabrics, so I wanted to create something that would allow me to buy a few of them, as well as, make something that was Avengers appropriate. At the time, I wasn’t able to find any fabrics that featured all of the Avengers (that has since been remedied), but I did pick up this neat Captain America print. I decided that would be perfect for my next project, a fabric belt!
The Novo Geek: Week 2!
Hopefully you read our article last week about the launch of The Novo Geek.
If you didn’t, here’s the short version:

This week’s item is this stunning mini-scaled replica of the Battlestar Galactica.
Oh wait, I’m sorry, that’s actually a wickedly awesome USB drive!
Geek Chic Finds of the Week!
4Every now and again we’d like to share items we happen to find during shopping excursions, so here’s the first! As I mention in our About page, I love to shop, and last week was no exception – I came across some great finds at Walmart, Target, and Hot Topic.
Hello Kitty, Pretty and Pink
While Sephora and Hello Kitty aren’t strangers to teaming up, their new collections, which debuted at the beginning of May, were way too CUTE to pass up. Their summer collection consists of the Hello Kitty Pretty collection and the Hello Kitty Big Pink Bow fragrance collection. I headed to my local Sephora to check out the products in person.
DIY Friday: Glittery Avengers Hair Fascinator
To show off my excitement for the Avengers, I wanted to make something fun and girly to wear in my hair, so here’s how I made the Avengers fascinator. This same method can totally be used for whatever you may be a fan of, so definitely alter it as you see fit!
It’s a Girl’s World at Her Universe
As long as there have been geek guys around, there have been geek girls, but it’s taken a long time, a lot of work, and a lot of voices from the geek girl community for them to finally get noticed when it comes to merchandise. Welcome, Her Universe. The first, but hopefully not the last, of its kind, Her Universe is a company started and run by a geek girl, whose passion is to make merchandise geek girls WANT. And it’s been a resounding success since it’s launch in 2010.
Are YOU The Novo Geek?
3Today marks the launch of The Novo Geek, brought to you by Anovos, makers of the finest in officially licensed costumes.
Blue Milk, Aunt Beru? I’ll Have Black…LOTS Of It.
5On Friday, May 4th, news was released that was so monumental, that the squeals of hundreds of thousands of women around the world sent a literal shock wave through the Force.
Black Milk was going official with Lucasfilm to produce licensed Star Wars clothing.
Avengers Ensemble!
1Since today is the launch of our blog, what better way to celebrate than to focus on something big and geeky happening this weekend, The Avengers! What’s been great about this movie is that there has been a huge increase of Marvel related merchandise, so I figured why not feature a few of my favorites that I’ve come across. In addition, at the bottom of this post you’ll find my Avengers inspired outfit that features some DIY projects that I plan on posting tutorials of next week. So without further ado:

I actually picked this shirt up at Old Navy last week. I love the vintage look along with the soft fabric it’s printed on.
Her Universe @ Hot Topic
We’ll be doing a more in-depth look at Her Universe next week, but I wanted to let you guys know about the Star Wars special for today. If you buy any of these lovely items today, you get 20% off.
There’s plenty more Star Wars items on sale at the site, so get your geek on!
