Last weekend, Scruffy and I had the pleasure of attending Comikaze both as panelists and as fans of the con. For us, the highlight of the con had to be the Geek Fashion Show. Seven designers had the opportunity to showcase their geek chic designs which ranged from dresses, to swim wear, and even shoes!
A company that we’re intimately familiar with around here, showed off some of their current designs like Camilla d’Errico, and The Last Unicorn. However, they also showed off some new designs that should be available on Black Friday like new Sherlock looks, leggings covered in D20s, some great designs inspired by popular characters.
Next up was a company that featured frocks and cloaks for all ages. They had designs ranging from Harry Potter, to Doctor Who, to The Hobbit. I especially loved the Gandalf inspired outfit.
These bikinis definitely represented a wide range of fandoms. Featuring designs from anime, video games, comics, and more! There’s definitely something for everyone.
Probably one of my favorite lines at the show, Unicorn Sushi featured designs inspired by sci-fi and magical girls. I really loved the Star Trek dresses and that Quarian dress was amazing.
Ruffles, skirts, and dresses oh my! Girl With One Eye featured lovely lolita looks with geeky fabric incorporated into the designs. That Avengers kimono was super cute!
Showing off the Halloween collection, these spooky corsets and dresses featured printed designs and swarovski crystals that looked great. The corsets show especially well when paired with a fun black dress.
Of course, no outfit is ever complete without a great pair of shoes, and Orion’s Originals donned the feet of many of the models in the show. Utilizing, glitter, vinyl, and various adornments, these shoes are sure to turn heads.
I was really pleased to see such a wide range of designs and fashion styles. Did any of you have the opportunity to check out the show? Which was your favorite piece?
