Tomorrow is the premiere of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1. Like with past Hunger Games movies, I was eagerly anticipating what new merchandise would be in store for fans of Panem. In previous years, we’ve seen custom nail polishes, makeup, and even couture clothing collections inspired by the films. Unfortunately, it looks as if we won’t be seeing any of those things this year. My guess is the content of these next two movies isn’t exactly conducive to fashion from the Capitol. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t show off your support of the rebellion with the merchandise below.
There’s something to be said about the fact that I’m currently writing this post during a heat wave in Southern California. However, for the rest of you, fall weather is right around the corner. For this post, we’re putting together some great geeky finds that you can incorporate into your wardrobe as the weather cools.
Earlier this year, Hot Topic surprised us with releasing their first designer fashion line inspired by the film Maleficent. Luckily, it wasn’t was their last. This week they released a new collection inspired by the upcoming film The Book of Life. In contrast with the last collection which primarily featured black, this one is filled with bright and colorful skirts, jewelery, and more.
When it comes to animated films, there’s just something about Studio Ghibli films that really capture that sense of magic and wonder. From the stunningly beautiful visuals to the fantastical stories, these films have won the hearts of many. One thing that was missing was the ability to wear this beautiful art. However, thanks to the efforts of Her Universe and Hot Topic, we can now enjoy a new clothing collection!
It’s been quiet around here lately, and today’s post will explain just the reason! As many of you know, San Diego Comic Con happened recently, and with it came the first ever Geek Couture Fashion show. Scruffy and I were both lucky enough to be chosen to participate along with 34 other designers from around the country. I have to say, the competition was fierce!
Like with any recent movie release, we’re starting to see merchandise for the new Maleficent movie being released. While some of it is really fun, some of it misses the mark completely.
It’s that time of year again. The weather is getting warmer, days are getting longer, and of course, new geeky swimsuits are being released! I’m always excited to see what new looks companies have come up with, and what styles are going to be popular. If these are any indication, it’s going to be a summer full of comics and Disney.
There’s only one week left to enter the ground-breaking Her Universe Geek Couture Fashion Show Design Competition! This is definitely an event you will NOT want to miss being a part of, whether you take a stab at submitting your designs and/or eagerly sit in the audience to see the show at San Diego Comic Con in July.
Still unsure whether you can, or should, enter? Read on!
Something Her Universe had mentioned to us last year was the possibility of a geek fashion show happening at San Diego Comic Con in 2014, and we’re thrilled to see that it’s totally happening! Not only that, but it’s up to geeks like all of us to come up with some great designs for the show.
